Arrived in the middle of the night after 27hours of horrible bus. Our transfer to hostel wasnt there so we got lost in the bustation...that was good. Our hostel was backed full because of Carnaval. the Bunks were stacked 3high, with 9 in a cupboard room. A few collapsed while we were there, not ours luckily. First day we caught up on washing and the usual things. That night we went to dinner with a new friend named Chris. He hadnt eaten but we had. He runs a tour company so we went to the resturant of the hotel his people were staying at. Othom...amazing rooftop bar and pool. Beautiful view of the Copacobana beach and ferris wheel.
The next day we spent the morning shopping, i got a purple dress for cheap and some awfully comphy shorts. That afternoon we went on a boat trip organised through the hostel. Great fun, we went swimming and had Caprianas. Saw amazing rio sunset and enjoyed another swim. On the way home we passed through a street party at Lapa...loads of people.
Sataday - We went to the Christo de Redemptor statue...tis pretty big. Apparently its 40meters and he has his arms wide in preparation to clap for his favourite Samba school. ...I dont believe that. Anyway, it was big but really hot that day so we made it short, and made our way back to sealevel. Went to Ipanema block party, lots of people but i think we were late, and everyone was just milling around. Hung out on the beach for a while.
Sunday we went to the Ipanema markets, they were a more expensive than expected.
Ok going to cut it short, ill finish this up tomorow. This computer is slowly destroying my soul.
