Canal De Panama

Beautiful day here!
had free pancake breakfast at our amazing american hostel ... and then went to the canal museum and i read all the signs that were in spanish!
It was pretty hard, and i got tired of it after not long but i was proud of claire and i for figuring out so mcuh spanish information hehe. we learnt lots but im too tired to repeat it now...maybe later. Then we came back to the hostel for free coffee and more pancakes. then we went to old town - which is the old city which got burnt down by a pirate who held some kind of grudge.
it was amazing! big stone ruins of old chapels and houses. climbed all over them. Had an amazing time...ill put some photos up pronto.
Um,,, then we got tired from the heat and caught a bus around town. we were trying to get back to the hostel but ended up near the airport so decided to stop at the huge mall there to check it out. we were told its a tourist attraction in itself.. and those people were right. each entrance to the mall had a huge statue of a creature. there were dinosaurs and flamingoes and giraffes and lions and rhinos and hipos . it was great. they also had heaps of cool shops but we didnt have time to look, had only enough to get lunch.
Strangely all the take away places were closed except for a few resturants. we got sanwhiches..the service was shockingly bad and so i didnt tip. then we got a taxi to the canal...pretty impressive. there was a ship going through just as we arrived so that was good. didnt take as long as i had expected for them to empty the lock and let the boat free to roam the pacific ocean..about 20mins. watched a couple more go through...i fell asleep a couple times...its a slow process. then we taxi'd home. all and all a great day..achieved a lot and now i feel like ive deserved my exhaustion.
Sorry this is so summarised. Ill try do something about that in the future.
